UNESCO workshop: Complex systems and applications

This UNESCO workshop is being organized jointly by:

•    The International Center for Mechanical Sciences (CISM), Udine, Italy (on behalf of UNESCO)
•    The Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC) of the Cyprus Institute, Nicosia,
      Cyprus
•    The “Marco Polo” project, Venice, Italy

The workshop aims to:
1) Review the state-of-the-art and the potential of current techniques of computer visualization technology, through three dimensional representations of historical monuments.
2) Using various case studies mainly concerning Venetian monuments in the Aegean area (Cyprus, Crete, Corfu, Kefalonia and other sites) to study their current status, history and the perspectives for cultural tourism.
3) To prepare a project aimed at extending the above mentioned techniques to Venetian monuments in the South East Mediterranean area and other sites rich with Venetian history.

The workshop is for researchers, heritage professionals, architects, historians of architecture and archaeologists.
