The Cyprus Institute gladly announces the opening of its Office in Paris, rendered possible through the generous support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation. The office, strategically located near the decision-making centres of the French capital and with easy access to the headquarters of the European Union in Brussels, will allow the Cyprus Institute to enhance its international presence and partnerships.

The office’s convenient and spacious premises are situated on Avenue Foch in Paris. The European office will be directed by Dr. Bruno Rostand, Associate Vice-President for International Affairs. The office will support the activities of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Edouard Brézin, and will help intensify the relations of the Cyprus Institute with a number of international bodies, most notably the European Commission and the Union for the Mediterranean. It will also contribute to assessing and monitoring the growing number of research funding opportunities that exist within various international programmes, principally those of the European Union.

The office will also facilitate the Cyprus Institute’s extensive collaboration with French institutions, notably C2RMF (Centre de recherche et de restauration des musées de France, for scientific and technological applications to Archaeology and Cultural Heritage), IPSL (Institut Pierre-Simon de Laplace, for climate research), and the Sophia Antipolis Foundation for the promotion of innovation in the Mediterranean region. In addition it will provide a convenient venue in support of the activities of several international committees and expert groups that contribute to the development of the Institute, such as its scientific advisory bodies and the search committees that are formed for the international recruitment of senior academic staff.

Prof. Edouard Brézin, Chairman of the Board and former President of the French Academy of Sciences, commenting on the opening of the European Office of the Cyprus Institute stated: ”We are extremely grateful to the A.G. Leventis Foundation for its very generous support; I am confident that the European Office will be a tremendous asset to the Institute, and will greatly benefit the Institute’s presence on the scene of international scientific cooperation.”
