Racing with the sun: participants

Six teams in total took part in the 2011 Challenge. Most of them secondary schools around Cyprus, and one individual with his singlehandedly built solar car. These are the results of the two categories:

Challenge Category

In the Challenge Category, all teams received funding from The Cyprus Institute, and were limited in their design to make them comparable to the others. They finished in the following order.

1. Technical School of Ayiou Lazarou, Larnaca: 24 laps
2. Technical School of Avgorou, Ammochostos: 22 laps
3. CyI team on behalf of Lyceum Apostolon Petros and Pavlou, Limassol: 20 laps
4. Pascal English School, Larnaca: 13 laps

Open Category

The Open Category was not limited by regulations on funding, size and power but only by safety standards. The two competitors both were converted conventional cars and finished as follows.

1. Kyriacos Georgiou, individual: 21 laps
2. Makedonitissa Gymnasium, Nicosia: 8 laps
