Πρόσφατο Ευρωπαϊκό Συνέδριο για την Κλιματική Αλλαγή και Κρίση, ιδιαίτερα στην περιοχή μας

Συμπεράσματα και Βήματα Μπροστά!

Ο Σύνδεσμος Φίλων του Ινστιτούτου Κύπρου σας προσκαλεί σε εκδήλωση αφιερωμένη στην παρουσίαση και ευρύτερη συζήτηση των αποτελεσμάτων του πρόσφατου Ευρωπαϊκού Συνεδρίου για την Κλιματική Αλλαγή και την Κρίση, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην περιοχή της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου και της Μέσης Ανατολής.

Σχετικά με το Συνέδριο

Στις αρχές Απριλίου 2026 πραγματοποιήθηκε στη Λευκωσία το διήμερο Ευρωπαϊκό Συνέδριο: “Climate Action in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East” υπό την αιγίδα της Προεδρίας της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στο Συμβούλιο της Ε.Ε.

Το Συνέδριο διοργανώθηκε από το Climate Change Initiative (EMME–CCI) για τη Ν.Α. Μεσόγειο και τη Μέση Ανατολή (EMME-CCI), με πρωτοβουλία του Ινστιτούτου Κύπρου (ΙΚυ) και της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, στο πλαίσιο της συνέχειας της δράσης από τη Διάσκεψη COP27.

Τώρα παίρνει την πρωτοβουλία ο ΣΥΝΔΕΣΜΟΣ ΦΙΛΩΝ ΤΟΥ ΙΝΣΤΙΤΟΥΤΟΥ ΚΥΠΡΟΥ να διοργανώσει την εκδήλωση αυτή, η οποία έχει στόχο την ανάδειξη των βασικών συμπερασμάτων του Συνεδρίου και τη συζήτηση των επόμενων βημάτων για την αντιμετώπιση της κλιματικής κρίσης στην περιοχή μας.

Κύριος ομιλητής θα είναι ο τέως Πρόεδρος του Ινστιτούτου Κύπρου και Πρόεδρος της Οργανωτικής Επιτροπής του Συνεδρίου, Καθ. Κώστας Παπανικόλας, ο οποίος θα παρουσιάσει τα κύρια συμπεράσματά του.

Θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση (Panel Discussion) με τρεις εκλεκτούς προσκεκλημένους που ασχολούνται με τα θέματα αυτά: τον κ. Χαράλαμπο Θεοπέμπτου, Πρόεδρο της Κοινοβουλευτικής Επιτροπής Περιβάλλοντος, τον δρα Πάνο Χατζηνικολάου, Αναπλ. Καθ. στο ΙΚυ, και τη δρα Ξένια Λοϊζίδου, Πρόεδρο του Δ.Σ. της ΜΚΟ «ΑΚΤΗ».

Συντονιστής της εκδήλωσης θα είναι ο Πρόεδρος του Συνδέσμου Φίλων ΙΚυ, δρ Πέτρος Καρεκλάς.

Recent European Conference on Climate Change and Crisis, Particularly in our Region

Conclusion and Next Steps!

The Friends of the Cyprus Institute Association invites you to an event dedicated to the presentation and broader discussion of the findings of the recent European Conference on Climate Change and the Crisis, with a particular focus on the region of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.


About the Conference

In early April 2026, a two-day European conference was held in Nicosia: “Climate Action in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East” under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus of the Council of the EU.

The conference was organized by the Climate Change Initiative (EMME–CCI) for the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East (EMME-CCI), on the initiative of the Cyprus Institute (CyI) and the Republic of Cyprus, as part of the follow-up to the COP27 Conference.

Now, the ASSOCIATION OF FRIENDS OF THE CYPRUS INSTITUTE is taking the initiative to organize this event, which aims to highlight the key conclusions of the Conference and discuss the next steps for addressing the climate crisis in our region.

The keynote speaker will be the former President of the Cyprus Institute and Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee, Prof. Costas Papanikolas, who will present his main conclusions.

This will be followed by a panel discussion with three distinguished guests who specialize in these issues: Mr Charalambos Theopemptou, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment; Dr. Panos Hatzinikolaou, Associate Professor at CyI; and Dr. Xenia Loizidou, Chair of the Board of Directors of the NGO “AKTI.”

The event will be moderated by the President of the Association of Friends of The Cyprus Institute, Dr. Petros Kareklas.
