Konstantina Oikonomou

Konstantina OIKONOMOU is a research engineer specialized in Environmental Analytical Chemistry. She obtained her Master of Science in Chemistry in May 2001 from the Department of Chemistry, at the University of Crete. Further pursued her research career 1 year at ECPL (Environmental Chemical Processes Laboratory, University of Crete), for 4 years at LSCE (CNRS-CEA mix research unit, France) , until she got recruited in 2014 as Technical Research Specialist in Atmospheric Sciences at the Cyprus Institute (currently working at the Environmental Chemistry Laboratory of CARE-C).

She has more than 10-year experience in atmospheric sampling and experimental determination of the major chemical components of atmospheric aerosols using a wide range of state-of-the-art instruments (Ion Chromatography, Gas chromatography, etc.) fulfilling Quality Assurance requirements of several international networks (WMO-GAW QASAC; EMEP; EU-ACTRIS).

She is currently supporting the Cyprus Air Quality Network (Dept of Labour Inspection) in complying with EU Air Quality Directive; she has been actively involved in several EU projects (FP5; FP6; FP7; H2020) and has participated to major field experimental studies in Europe (Greece, France, Cyprus), Asia (China), and in the Southern Austral Ocean. She (co-)authorized  15 publications in international peer-review journals
