Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sahoo is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC) of The Cyprus Institute. He is currently involved in the ASPERIUM project, and multiscale simulations and materials design for advanced membrane-based gas separation technologies. His research interests include gas adsorption, catalysis, water splitting, and CO₂ capture, using density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics (MD), and related computational techniques.
 
Dr. Sahoo earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, in 2023, where he was awarded the Best Ph.D. Thesis for his work on hydrogen storage. He holds a Master's in Physics from the Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, and a B.Sc. in Physics from Utkal University, India.
 
Prior to joining CyI, he held postdoctoral positions at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Israel, and HRI India. In addition to his research, Dr. Sahoo has served as a lecturer in Physics at the Government Autonomous College, Angul. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and actively participates in international research collaborations.
