Dr Stylianos Hadjipetrou holds a B.Eng. from the Department of Planning and Regional Development at the University of Thessaly (2015) and an M.Sc. in “Spatial Analysis and Environmental Management” from the same department, graduating with honors. He went on to pursue a Ph.D. in “Geostatistics and Spatial Analysis in Engineering and Geosciences” at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics at CUT, under the supervision of Prof. Phaedon Kyriakidis. His Ph.D. research led to the development of a stochastic framework for reconstructing Sentinel-1 wind speed image time series using Multiple-Point Geostatistical (MPGS) simulation.

Currently, Stylianos is enrolled in the MSc program in "High Performance Computing and Machine Learning" at The Cyprus Institute.

Stylianos’ main research interests include Geoinformatics, Spatial Analysis and Remote Sensing. His Ph.D. work sparked a deeper interest in geostatistical modeling of geographical variables and applications in engineering, as well as earth and environmental sciences. Additionally, his research during his Ph.D. inspired him to explore big data in weather and climate variables towards the development of novel simulation approaches for weather forecasting using machine learning tools and techniques. Stylianos has actively contributed to a range of projects at the intersection of geostatistics, geoinformatics, and spatial analysis. He also brings valuable experience from the private sector, having worked as a Town Planner and GIS Specialist for over two years. Stylianos also has teaching experience in GIS-related undergraduate courses as a teaching assistant.
