Ropertos Georgiou

Curriculum Vitae

Ropertos is a Senior Research Application Scientist whose work lies at the intersection of imaging science, cultural heritage, and advanced visualization technologies. He specializes in multimedia, 2D/3D photography, computer-generated imagery (CGI), and web visualization, developing innovative methods for documenting, analyzing, and presenting archaeological sites, museum collections, and historic architecture.

He holds an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Electronics Engineering (TCI Institute, New York City), a BSc in Computer Engineering (University of Technology, Budapest), and an MSc in Multimedia Applications & Virtual Environments (University of Sussex). His MSc thesis, “West Pier – 3D Visualization of the Reconstruction,” explored the accurate digital reconstruction of Brighton’s historic West Pier.

Since 2009, Ropertos has been part of the Cyprus Institute, where he currently leads the technical development of the 2D/3D imaging and photographic facilities at the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories (APAC Labs). He has contributed to numerous European and transatlantic research projects and collaborated with institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus, the Benaki Museum, FORTH, Jagiellonian University, the University of Southern California, and the Advanced Visualization Lab at NCSA.

Ropertos also delivers workshops and training programs, supporting students, researchers, and professionals in 2D/3D imaging, computational photography, and visualization techniques relevant to archaeology, conservation, and the arts.
