On Friday 29 November 2024 The Cyprus Institute hosted the leadership of the Limassol District Local Government Organization (LDLGO) at the Institute’s Solar Energy Research Facility PROTEAS in Pentakomo.

 

On behalf of LDLGO, its President Mr. Yiannis Tsouloftas, Acting Director General, Mr. Socrates Metaxas, Head of the Infrastructure Sector, Dr. Grigoris Panayiotou, and Technical Inspector, Mr. Solomos Charalambous, were present.

 

They were welcomed by CyI President Professor Stavros Malas, Head of the PROTEAS Facility Dr. Marios Georgiou, Professor Theodoros Zachariadis and Research Scientist, Dr. Nestor Fylaktos.

 

At the meeting the broader research and educational activities of CyI were presented, along with the specific work in research, innovation and education carried out at PROTEAS in the fields of renewable energy, energy storage, and desalination.

 

Both LDLGO and CyI participants realized there are numerous avenues for cooperation between the two organizations and agreed to continue their communication and meetings on specific topics related to green energy and water resource management in the broader area of Limassol.
