Signing of MoU between The Cyprus Institute and the House of Representatives Featured
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday, November 6, by the Cyprus Institute and the House of Representatives, with the aim of utilizing the research work of the Institute.
The Memorandum was signed by the President of The Cyprus Institute, Professor Stavros Malas and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Annita Dimitriou, in a ceremony that took place at the building of the House of Representatives.
The memorandum is a continuation and expansion of the Parliament's cooperation with the Institute's research centers on issues related to the parliament’s responsibilities, with the aim of providing expertise and training to the Parliament and for actions in areas of common interest.
The memorandum includes the provision of research and technical support in the areas of scientific specialization of The Cyprus Institute that are of special interest to the Parliament, in the context of its multidimensional role as the pre-eminent representative body in the Republic of Cyprus. It also includes the utilization of The Cyprus Institute's academic knowledge in the specialized scientific fields in which the Parliament is called upon to intervene either through legislative initiative or through the exercise of parliamentary control or through its legislative activity in general. Finally, it provides for the co-organization of joint scientific and educational events and activities, as well as any other form of activity deemed necessary for the purposes of supporting the work of the Parliament.
The signing of the memorandum is another indication, but also proof, of the value and the contributions of The Cyprus Institute to state authorities and Cyprus in general.
